August’s Open House features a waxing crescent Moon. There will also be treats such as Albireo, arguably the prettiest double star in the night sky; M57 (Ring Nebula); M27 (Dumbbell Nebula); and M13 (Hercules Cluster).

We’ll have 75th Anniversary cookies, stickers, pins, and music!

If you need to learn how to use your new telescope, come early, bring it with you, and ask our members for assistance as we set up before dark. Don’t have a telescope yet? No problem! Join members of the DAS on the lawn just south of Chamberlin Observatory to view the night sky’s gems through various member telescopes.

This event will occur on the south lawn of DU’s historic Chamberlin Observatory, 2930 E. Warren Avenue, Denver.

Weather permitting, look through the observatory’s 20-inch Alvan Clark-Saegmuller refractor telescope ($2 donation, DAS members and DU students free) and meet fellow amateur stargazers with telescopes on the lawn out front.

The event is finished.
