On Sunday December 8, Chamberlin Observatory was a beehive of activity as the University Park Community held their annual Sing & Sleigh event in and around the building on a gorgeous and unseasonably sunny and warm day. On August 30, nearly 40 people from the DAS and Douglas County enjoyed a perfectly clear dark sky filled with stars, the Milky Way, and at least half a dozen large meteors. These were no shooting stars; they were chunks of space rock that broke into smaller pieces as they burned up, delighting those who were fortunate enough to be looking in the right direction.… Continue reading.

Approximately 60 DAS members gathered outdoors at Chamberlin Observatory on July 20 for the annual club picnic, and to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the organization.
