Members’ In-reach: The Astronomical League and You

Logo

Presentation:
Did you know that the Denver Astronomical Society is the largest astronomy club in the Astronomical League? As a member of DAS, you’re also a member of the Astronomical League. Dena will present information about how our club members can enrich their membership by using what the AL offers.
Former DAS President Dena McClung will share with the participants what the Astronomical League is, how the DAS is related to it, and what services it brings to the club and individual members of the DAS. She will discuss the observing awards program and various awards programs offered by the Astronomical League and upcoming League Conventions called ALCONs.  She will have some clips from presentations at the 2024 ALCON in Kansas City and information about next year’s convention called the ASTROCON, which will take place in Bryce Canyon, Utah, under very dark skies.

Our Speaker:
Dena is a retired FAA air traffic controller who just finished three years as DAS president and continues to serve the DAS as the coordinator of the Sandstone Ranch events, liaison with Chamberlin Observatory director Dr. Jennifer Hoffman, membership coordinator, Astronomical League coordinator, and the answerer of many oddball email questions.
