  • Look for the waxing crescent Flower Moon next to Elnath and near Jupiter in Taurus in the early evening sky. Elnath is a bright blue giant star that straddles the constellations Taurus and Auriga.

  • Look for the waxing crescent Flower Moon next to Pollux and Castor in Gemini around 9:30 PM.

This Week’s Meteoric Activity:

You can keep track of the activity of meteor showers as well as those beyond the limits of visual observing by visiting the NASA Meteor Shower Portal.

  • Anthelion (ANT): 1:00 AM local time in western Libra: 1 per hour.
  • pi Puppids (PPU): 1st hour after dark in central Puppis: 1 per hour.
  • eta Aquariids (ETA) q hour before dawn in western Aquarius: Less that 1 per hour. Peaking on May 4th.
